They say “life’s a beach,” and recently Plymouth Rock/Teachers’ Insurance Plan of NJ provided a little “slice of life” to New Jersey educators.

From August 2-4 saw Plymouth Rock-Teachers’ Insurance Plan throw their second annual “Teachers Week at the Beach” at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.

The boardwalk, normally packed with beachgoers, was a little extra crowded as New Jersey educators from around the state flocked to the promotional event.

The event’s popularity can partially be attributed to some viral marketing on Facebook. Over 2K teachers shared the event post on Facebook and hundreds of colleagues and friends were tagged on the posts to let them know.

“The event definitely went a little viral this year,” said event organizer, Chris West. “The word of mouth was incredible.” “Teachers came from all over the state, and a couple hundred showed up who had just heard about it from friends the week of.”

All particpants received free beach passes, and 1200 received aquarium passes. The first 800 got mini golf passes. First 25 guests each day received Teacher Week t-shirts, and guests also received sun screen, lip balm and beach balls for kids in attendance. Over 1250 passes given out to teachers and their guests in attendance.

“It’s a blast to give away free stuff to teachers. They do such important work, and most of the time without all the resources they need. It’s an honor to give a little back to them and show them our appreciation,” said West.

Teachers Week at the Beach, sponsored by Plymouth Rock-Teachers’ Insurance Plam of NJ (a NJ auto insurance company that provides auto and home insurance exclusively to NJ educators) looks to return to the Jersey Shore in the summer of 2018.

“We got a lot of love on social media and at the event. I think everyone had a lot of fun. The weather was great, and a lot of teachers got a day on the beach and boardwalk without having to spend a dime,” concluded West.
